![]() I think we all know where the story mostly leads, as the formula for this type of story has a template that is rarely wandered from. ![]() ![]() After that, Blaire wants to make it clear she isn’t a mooch so she does everything a good houseguest should, all the while Rush is observing and absorbing more than she knows. Well.at the last second he lets her stay-but that’s just a technicality we can overlook. For one, when Blaire is mislead to believe she has a place to stay at his house by her never present father, whom Rush hates by the way, he doesn’t make her leave. He is the oh so perfect badboy we all adore. Let me start off by saying I absolutely love Rush. ![]() I read the reviews and I still couldn’t wait another week to read it so I could just smoothly transition to the next in the series instead of setting myself up for a tortuous week of waiting. Apparently I love torturing myself with tremulous endings and cliffhangers becuase I have been reading book after book where they end with a bang…a massive unfinished bang. ![]() ![]() ![]() Her children often had to beg her to go to work in the morning. She remained in the hospital for several days recovering from her burns until her father showed up and took her home against the doctor's wishes. A neighbor drove them to the hospital, where Jeannette was placed on a bed of ice. In this sense, he correlates to Max Greenfield's wealthy accountant character David in the movie, despite the character being polished with fiction to play up the contrasting worlds.ĭid Jeannette really set herself on fire while trying to make her own lunch on the stove as a three-year-old? Born and raised on Park Avenue, Goldberg contradicted her own alcoholic father and impoverished upbringing. Not exactly, though he's intended to be a streamlined version of her real-life boyfriend at the time, Eric Goldberg (who she ended up marrying). ![]() ![]() In lines like, “roving nature’s law is wrong,” and, “when no one else ever cared,” we see the oppression and inequality, but also indifference, a world that doesn’t care about Shakur because of who he is and where he is from. Without ever mentioning them, the poem addresses racism, poverty, and Shakur’s own personal struggles. The poem itself is delicately crafted, so much so that removing a single line or image would make the whole thing shatter. In this poem we see Shakur’s belief that everyone is capable of making something of themselves. ![]() One such poem is “The Rose that Grew From Concrete,” the title poem from Tupac Shakur’s post-humous collection of his poetry. There has been a long tradition of poetry written to help people see their own worth and potential. It has the power to bring us together, to inspire us to be better than we were, and it can show us that, despite all the odds and adversity, we can be great. ![]() On January 20th, at the presidential inauguration, we all saw the true power of poetry. ![]() ![]() ![]() The enemy of the Federation, The Imperial Verses, is run by an evil dictator by the name of Ciro Fardelle. Once his job is complete, he updates the leader of the Federation, happily married to Daniel’s sister. Daniel takes great joy in making the man suffer before he dies. I am a cover whore and would totally have bought this book just to stare at it.ĭaniel, who runs the Phantom Corps division of the Federation, is very good at his job and is hunting down the man who hurt his sister in the past. Okay yes, the cover totally made me want to read it. I don’t usually like to start a book in the middle of a series, but I really wanted to read this book. The Phantom Corps is a group of mercenaries that work for the Federation and pretty much do all the dirty work such as killing people and keeping it secret. Insatiable is book #3 in the Federation Chronicles Series, but branching off to book #1 in the Phantom Corps Series as well. Also, a film based on the first three books in the series (first trilogy of “Saga Of Darren Shann” called Vampire Blood) was released in theatres in the US on October 23rd, 2009. According to the latest known statistics of the book, The Cirque du Freak: A Living Nightmare has been published in over 33 countries, in over 30 different languages. That idea gave him the incentive to start thinking about what it would be like for a boy to meet a vampire and to reluctantly become his assistant, so he wrote the first book of “Saga Of Darren Shann” series called The Cirque du Freak: A Living Nightmare, which was published in January 2000. The author Darren Shan had based the main character of the series on himself, when one day during his mid-twenties, he was thinking about the consequences of a vampire attacking him and turning him into a vampire while he was thinking about his favorite Stephen King book, Salem’s Lot. This series is written by Darren Shan and it is about a young boy who has inadvertently become involved with vampires. It is a young adult book series, which is composed of four trilogies, with three books per trilogy, hence, the series includes twelve books. The series, “Saga of Darren Shann” is also known as The “Cirque du Freak: Saga of Darren Shann” in the US. ![]() ![]() ![]() (Someone forgot to read the whole description before I started it, I guess) The story picked up quickly and before I knew it, Cracker was getting ready to find her partner for in the war. When I started this out, Cracker was just a regular family dog "chasing" dead birds in an alley with her boy and I was like.uh oh, this sounds like it might be a bit cheesy if it's just about a family pet. ![]() ![]() This took me way too long to read! (And it was on my shelf for forever XP) Long story short, I unfortunately don't know tons about the Vietnam war so besides just being a book to read, I did learn a little about why America was part of it and what was sort of going on. A book I could read 30 years later and still enjoy. I truly felt for the dog handles and their dogs. That is why the dog handlers become so attached to their dogs, because their dogs will be there though the thick and thin of it. It doesn't focus on how gruesome it is all the time but it does show you the seriousness of war. I also thought that the demonstration of war was well presented. They have a bond that grows with each trial they go though. Rick and Cracker don't just make a team, but a relationship. I like that you get the perspective of Cracker, Cracker's previous owner Willie, and Rick it makes the book more interesting. I can relate to Rick's frustration in the beginning of the book with both Cracker and himself. I adore Cracker, and Rick is a great owner. I read this book in 2 days but only because I had to sleep and I fell asleep thinking about it. ![]() ![]() ![]() I love talking to students about my writing life – how I started out, the influence of my daughter on my ideas, as well as the ups and downs of a career in fiction.
